Holiday Decor: Chalet Style

Well, based on this week's weather; it looks like a lot of folks are in for another cold and snowy winter!  …. which hopefully means lots of cozying up indoors by a fire; drinking hot cocoa.  Here are a few of my picks for making your home feel a little more like a warm, inviting chalet this holiday season…

Christmas Decor: Tartan

Sorry!…. I know Halloween isn't even until tomorrow…. but even here in Switzerland; IKEA and the smattering of home stores have been bedecked in Christmas decor this week…. and while I'm certainly not trying to rush through Fall;  I must admit that seeing it all gets me a little excited.

When it comes to holiday decorating; tartans are definitely my love language….. fabrics, wrapping paper, ribbons, throws and of course, dinnerware.  Spotted these beauties on One Kings Lane today…..

I've been slowly adding to my collection over the years (well-done classic patterns are surprisingly hard to find)… and love the cozy atmosphere that mixing and matching them with worn leathers, solid throws and Christmas greens creates….  

Is it too early to start listening to Christmas music? :)

..... just like the perennial favorites make my Christmas playlist each December.... I can't get enough of this home's holiday decor I posted about last year.  I've yet to see anything this season that has inspired me more....

So easy to re-create using fresh greenery and flowers which are so readily available this time of year.  The boxwood has always been the most difficult thing for me to find..... but Target has scored some MAJOR points with me this year by offering this.....

Is it crazy that this wreath makes me as jolly as a plate of cookies does Santa?!? :)

It's About Time.....

...... so it's been four days since we "sprang" forward yet my body has yet to adapt.  While I love the long evenings that allow for family walks after dinner and more time outdoors; I'm finding myself needing an extra cup of coffee in the morning to wake up in the dark.

The time change also has me taking note of the clocks in my life; as it seems every time I turn around there is another one that needs to be adjusted.  My favorite clock in my home is the cuckoo clock below that was an anniversary gift from my guy several years ago.  It honestly makes me happy each time I see and hear the cheerful red bird notifying me of the hour.  I wouldn't mind adding the others to our collection of time keepers either.
