Letting myself go......

...... I'm guilty.  And sadly, not in the positive "freeing" sense of the phrase.  More like... my dark roots are showing, I haven't purposefully broken a sweat in weeks, I've been using a shampoo that I got from a hotel because I haven't put forth the effort to actually purchase the right one for my hair, and I woke up to pimples on my face today (and believe me, I'm too old to be getting them!).  Ugh!  Now, I certainly know that looks aren't everything and an occasional bad hair day is no big deal.  But I also know that for me when I look crummy, I tend to feel that way too.  So, I'm proclaiming "enough is enough!"   What I need is a kick-start..... and I'm getting it this week.

First up:  The AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge.  Now, anyone who knows me knows that I am not a dieter.  I truly believe that everything in moderation and an active lifestyle is the only way to go for me.  BUT, a long-time friend of ours has started selling this stuff and asked if we'd (my husband and I) give it a try..... I have never done anything like this.  I'm definitely more about the clean eating to get myself back on track than the supplements, etc.  but I'll let you know how it goes.  The worst part..... No coffee!  Am I insane?!?  I hope not to find myself in this state too often.

Next:  Sclerotherapy.  I'm having it done on Thursday.  I come from a family of fair skin which seems to work well on the face but on my legs..... not so much.  For the last several years I've noticed small spider veins creeping up on my legs and it's started to make me self-conscious when wearing shorts and bathing suits... so I'm having this procedure done with the hopes that I can manage this lovely development of aging with as much grace as possible.  (Don't worry, I'm not heading north with the needles quite yet!).  Anyone had this done?

and, lastly:  Lightening up.... in the figurative sense this time.  I seem to have gotten myself a little out of whack with our pending move and the "stuff" that comes up in everyday life and it's showing up in my body.  A fresh perspective is in order.  Life is good.  I am blessed.  I need to take time for myself (and time to make a hair appt.); tackle one project at a time and enjoy the ride......it might be a little hard without coffee.... but I'm gonna try!

How about you?  How do you get yourself out of a funk?

  1. Health, fitness and looking after myself are always what gets me out of a rut so I think you're on the right track! Thanks do much for stopping by G&G :)

    Abbey x

  2. Talking about roots... I have got to go get my hair done too. Take care of your self. Moving is so much work!

  3. Please let us know about how the supplements work! I am actually in the middle of a detox progam, and I definitely want to talk about it as soon as I see some results! What I usually need to get myself out of funk is a lot of inspiration: usually testimonies, like The Conversations series. Then, of course, good nutrition and excercise follow. I am proud of u! xoxo

  4. Good for you Crissy! We do Sclerotherapy in my office and the results are wonderful. It sometimes takes a couple treatments but is a great why to get rid of those little veins. Keep the compression tights on (if they ask you to wear them) to optimize healing. I think it's great to re-boot every now and then. Keep us posted on your progress!

    1. Yeah! Glad to hear you've seen good results. I'm trying to get them under control now so that I can tackle them in stages every year or two. I'll let you know how it goes.... maybe even some before and after pics. :)

  5. living parallel lives? I just scheduled a much overdue hair appt. for next week. After two weeks of resorting to using my husband's Pert Plus....it's not pretty

    Good luck with your rejuvenation!

  6. well I just had a baby ... lol... so no sweets for me which is rough! I don't know about the no coffee thing...yikes...I gave it up during my pregnancy and now I am a full time addict again :)

p.s. glad you are colic survivor as well! It was rough during but now seems like such a long time ago :)

  7. Good for you! Sounds like everyone should keep their distance while you go through with-drawls from coffee:) Excited to hear how the spider vein treatment goes!! Good luck!

  8. Lose myself in a book, bake cookies or what really works is counting my blessings, that always makes me feel better.

Get yourself some Pero. It tastes similar to coffee but is a grain drink, I love the stuff.

  9. Sound like you are on the right track...can't wait to hear about the supplements, but no caffeine...ugh!!

  10. Seriously, no coffee? I don't know if I'd last two days! Hope you're back in the groove soon!

  11. I am so far behind on getting things done for myself too! I am interested to hear how the spider vein thing works out. I have a couple awful looking ones on my leg and I hate to wear shorts because of them!

Thanks for sharing!
