But as is often the case...... God has different plans for our family...... ones that involve leaving our comfort zone; loosening our grip on some material things and embracing the unknown......
....... in an amazingly breathtaking setting.....
...... and for that, I say "thank you."
So big picture, I'm good...... excited about the potential for travel; experiencing a new culture; opening my girls' eyes to the bigger world out there and trusting that everything is going to be great. Little picture; not so good...... I'm "freaking out" about all that has to be done; what we're going to do with our house; how exactly you ship 100 stuffed animals and a tween (my middle schooler) across the ocean intact; the fact that none of us speak French; how I'm going to survive sticker shock and get all my laundry done in those teeny tiny washer and dryers! :)....... not to mention the emotional side of things like leaving friends and family..... eeek! I'm tackling one thing at a time.
....This week's question to be answered........ what exactly do kitchens look like in Switzerland..... I'm guessing not like the ones on my Pinterest board!?!? :)
Can't wait to catch up with you all when I return!
Oh my goodness, Crissy! I'm excited and nervous for you all at the same time. I'm sure the adventure will be a wonderful blessing for your family!
ReplyDeleteI think it's beginning to "sink in" for all of us! Looking forward (kinda) to living the adventure vicariously through you. We love you and know this is a wonderful opportunity. Will try not to be too weepy, friend! Impossible!
ReplyDeleteWow...what a change, but but glad for you that it's an adventure and not permanent. I have always said that if I had to leave the US, Switzerland would be my Country of choice. It's spectacularly beautiful and such nice, friendly people. Wishing you great success this week with your hunt!!
ReplyDeleteNo way! Wow...bummed you are moving from Chi but what an amazing opportunity. I can't wait to follow your journey!
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting and scary all at the same time! I've never been to Switzerland but have heard such great things. Think about all the great adventures you'll get to experience with your girls! Good luck on your trip!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I read this and realized there is someone in the world going through the exact same thing as me with all of the mixed emotions. We are considering a move to London (luckily they speak english!) - definitely scary and exciting to say the least.
ReplyDeletehow fun! My husband is swiss (from Lausanne) and we go a couple times a year-- kitchens are generally modern, small- sleek... think miele appliances. http://www.mieleusa.com/ -- have fun!

ReplyDeleteSwitzerland is beautiful! What an adventure your family will have. Things happen for a reason and apparently a move is part of the master plan for you! Scary, an adventure - yes!! but that's okay because you will grow because of it :)
ReplyDeleteleslie
ooo congrats! I cant wait to follow this adventure, how exciting!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I am so excited for you all! My only experience with what Switzerland is like is from watching House Hunters International and from what I can tell everything over there is miniature. Exactly like you said about the washing machine, teeny tiny.
ReplyDeleteIt will all be worth it though, I would jump on that adventure in a heartbeat. Can't wait to hear more.
How exciting!! I lived abroad for 11 years, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. And Switzerland is WAY prettier than the places I lived! You should write to Sarah from Fairy Tales are True...if you're not familiar with her, she lived in Switzerland and always posted the most amazing pictures of her life there. I'm sure she would have tons of advice! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting adventure for your family! I have no idea what the kitchens look like, but I know the towns and country-side are AMAZING! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, pretty exciting and a bit frighting...Cant wait to hear all the details and see where you will be living.
ReplyDeleteSwitzerland is breathtaking. What an incredible experience for your family! Anyone would be overwhelmed, but you are very, very fortunate to get to have this experience!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's exciting, Crissy. You have a great attitude and I know God will bless your move and adventure and give you the strength to adapt in spite of all the challenges. Wishing you all the best! xo

ReplyDeleteHi there! Pam from Simple Details sent me your way because I just shared with her that we are moving our family to Germany in February for about 3 years. I've been perusing your blog this morning getting excited about our new adventures to come. And yes, I'm currently feeling all the things you mentioned in this post!! EEK is right. A month to pack and purge our entire house! We are house/apt. hunting in January. It'll be nice to know where we'll finally hang our hat. Look forward to following along all your adventures as they will serve as great tips for us on our future travels.;) Happy Holidays!
